Namco’s style needs little introduction as they’re arguably the most iconic arcade game developers of all time. None the less, their library is impressively varied and over the span of their 40+ years of development it’s neat to see how their design evolved. Cutesy action puzzlers such as maze games were a common staple, alongside a mixture of racing games, shoot-em-ups, and once they made the leap to polygonal 3D, a lot of fighting games and light gun shooters. Their library parallels SEGA’s in many ways, especially by the 3D era.
